Need a job? Come out this April 8 to the Campus center in the Multi-Purpose room from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and meet with more than 50 employers.
The event is open to all Rutgers undergrad students and alumni, an opportunity to find out what job-seekers need to know in one location.
Freshmen should consider attending to sharpen their ability talk to employers about focusing on future job opportunities.
Before attending, every student should “have a plan” according to Terri Smith, employers relations coordinator.
Smith’s tips for success include:
Have several copies of your resume
Review the employer’s website
Generate questions interest
Have a “B list” of the most visited employers
Have an introductory line or elevator pitch ready, such as: “My name is _____. I am majoring in ______, and I will graduate 20**. I am interested in______.”
Remember to exhibit confidence, end every conversation with a handshake and thank the employer for the opportunity.
