When Life Gives You Lemons….

Camden: …….Make Lemonade!

For most of the year there is a lonely lemonade stand that stands outside of the cafeteria in the Campus Center. Most people walk by it forgetting it even existed but its there and for a few weeks in the spring semester it rises to the occasion. This is Alex’s Lemonade Stand.

Alexandra Flynn Scott started a lemonade stand to raise money to give the doctors who were helping her fight her battle with neuroblastoma. According to Cancer.org Neuroblastoma is “type of cancer that starts in certain very early forms of nerve cells found in an embryo or fetus”, it has also become one of the most common cancers in infants to learn more information visit the American Cancer Society website.

The money Alex raised would go towards research so that the doctors could “help other kids, like they helped me.” She would continue to raise money in her front yard selling lemonade all the way up till 2004 when Alex passed away at the young age of 8. She had raised over 1 million dollars for the cause and the Scott family has continued to raise awareness and money so that other kids can have hope that one day there will be a cure.

March 25th will be the first of five Lemonade stand dates here at the college. Help support the cause and make a difference all for the price of a glass of Lemonade.
